With stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea and an exquisite setting amongst natural vegetation, Aphrodite Hills in Cyprus is paradise for the golfing enthusiast. Following a recent €4m investment upgrade which included the renovation of every green and the modernisation of the pro shop, changing facilities and clubhouse, Aphrodite Hills has attained the accolade of becoming the PGA National, Cyprus and voted by tour operators as the ‘European Golf Resort of the Year 2018’. The course at Aphrodite Hills overlooks the site where Aphrodite – the Greek goddess of love – is said to have emerged from the sea.
Designed to blend into the natural contours of the surrounding landscape, the course spans a 130m wide ravine which comes into play off the back tees on the par-5, 3rd. The signature hole at Aphrodite Hills is the simply spectacular par-3, 7th, which plays back across the ravine, with the tee chiselled into the side of the rock face with the green below awaiting a precise tee shot. The course at Aphrodite Hills offers the perfect mix of challenging holes many of which feature large bunkers, coupled with manicured fairways boasting lush Bermuda grass and generous tiered greens. In addition to the 18-hole PGA National Cyprus course, Aphrodite Hills also has a 3-hole academy course, ideal for golfers of all standards and ages. Beginners and experienced players of all abilities are also given the chance to learn and improve their game at the Aphrodite Hills facilities.
The European Tour chose the PGA National Cyprus Golf Course as the host venue for two events in 2020, the first time the island had hosted a European Tour event.
